This Week In CFS Athletics- 12/9

December 9, 2019

  • Good afternoon! We have another week of contests, leading into the weekend of our 95th Christmas Pageant. Be sure to come for the Friday (8:00, all-school) and Sunday (3:00) shows. Read more at the following link, where we ask guests to sign-up for the event: LINK. We also have home openers for Bowling (vs. Bristol HS on Tuesday afternoon) and V/JV Basketball (vs. DC Christian Tuesday evening).  Go Griffins!
  • Home Event Spectators
    • We pride ourselves in a great home advantage for events! Be loud, have fun, with lots of positive support for our teams. Refrain from any negative comments or cheers toward the officials, the other team, or other fans. Always sit together on the same end as our team bench. In our gym, this is the far end of the stands, the near end is reserved for our guests.
    • We hope for a big crowd Tuesday as CFS Basketball opens their BAL schedule at home vs. DC Christian. JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7:00. 10th-12th graders are permitted to miss study hall to attend, 9th grade must attend evening study hall, as well as any 10th-12th graders on the academic coaching list. Any students with Pageant rehearsal must attend that commitment!
  • Weekend Highlights (Follow @CFSAthletics on Twitter and Instagram for current updates)
    • Wrestling- CFS competed at the Haverford HS Duals, a highly competitive tournament. Three Griffin wrestlers finished 4-1 on the day; Emmanuel Lawal, Marvellous Utobunwa-Nwachukwu, and Sebastian Chiesa.
    • Winter Track- The Griffins joined dozens of local high schools at the Ursinus HS Invitational. Daylon Shackelford led the way with a 3rd overall finish in the high jump (5-9), and Jalen Sampson and LaMarre Jean both placed in the top 10 out of over 70 competitors in the 400m race. You can see full CFS results here, and link the full events: LINK
    • Basketball- JVB (40-23 over Germantown Academy) and 9th Grade (42-24 over Kennett HS) started the weekend off with two big wins at home! The Varsity Griffins dropped both matchups in the Media Tip-Off, to Strath Haven HS and Penncrest HS. They are back in action Tuesday to host Delaware County Christian.
  • Tuesday Practices @ 4:15- All athletic practices will begin at 4:15 on Tuesday, 12/10, due to the Decision Survey being administered. Clubs may start earlier, check with your program leader.
